It was informed on January 22 that, in order to strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of investors from Taiwan and mainland, the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) is preparing to establish an investment dispute resolution center that is designed accept specific types of investment disputes between Taiwan and mainland and settle such disputes through mediation.
CIETAC is one of the permanent commercial arbitration organizations in world. Yu Jianlong, vice director and secretary general of the CIETAC, told the reporter on January 22 that the above mentioned dispute resolution center will between the parties under the Agreement of Protection and Promotion of Investments between Taiwan and Mainland or of any party that falls in the investment region under such Agreement.
